Project THEA (Tracking Haulage in East Africa)

Project THEA aims to deliver an open-access digital contact tracing system tailored to the haulage industry. The tool is designed to combine anonymized time-stamped geo-location information relative to the road infrastructure with COVID-19 test results to support public health efforts to limit transmission and the safe reopening of economies. Critically the efficiency in contact tracing enhances the flow of the regional supply chain and strategic allocation of public health surveillance resources.

THEA-GS: An open source platform for digital contact tracing

PorkMart

PorkMart aims to deliver real-time market intelligence on the pork value chain for Uganda. It leverages stakeholder inputs, market research and state of the art data science to deliver actionable end user information.

Clinical Metagenomics

Clinical Metagenomics tracks microbiome variance and identifies bacterial genera responsible for significant variance shifts using 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding for longitudinal data. The unique value of this approach is that it goes beyond presence, absence and abundance of genera, as is commonly the case in 16S microbiome studies. Since gut and lung microbiome analyses use DNA extracted from faecal and sputum samples respectively, they only represent a distribution of their respective anatomical compartments. So, making inferences based on presence and absence of individual units (genera) of the distribution might be misleading. In this prototype tool, variance is tracked using three microbiome attributes/parameters i.e. prevalence, abundance and co-occurrence network along a temporal scale identifying genera responsible for dramatic shifts in variance at each temporal point.

Biome360

Biome360 performs interactive visualisation of microbiome data and the results of different types of analyses (E.g. virulence genes, AMR genes, Mobile Genetic Elements, and Species of Interest)

Genopaths

Genopaths is platform to enable One Health pathogen genome surveillance. Genopaths can analyse, store and share sequencing data across our participating laboratory network. Fast and ethical sharing of actionable epidemiological data is the catalyst for rapid and effective responses to disease outbreaks.
